Laidlaw shines in stalemate

Ten-man Airdrie held out for a point in a goalless draw with Raith at New Broomfield.

Chances were few and far between in a poor first half, with neither side able to create many meaningful opportunities.

Paul Di Giacomo had an early effort for the hosts on 10 minutes, but failed to seriously test Ross Laidlaw in goal.

But he had to be alert moments later - tipping another Di Giacomo attempt round the post.

The Rovers keeper came back after the break in equally impressive form as he denied Nathan Blockley seconds after the restart.

However, United were reduced to 10 men just after the hour mark when Jack Boyle had a nightmare two minutes, picking up two yellow cards in quick succession.

Both sides came close to a winner in the final minutes, Rovers striker Greig Spence was denied by Grant Adam, before Laidlaw saved from Jamie Bain.
