Kirk goal enough for Alloa

Andy Kirk scored the only goal of the game as Alloa inflicted just a third defeat of the season on Raith.

Both sides had chances during an even first half. Raith striker Calum Elliot had a shot brilliantly saved by Scott Bain early on, while Daryll Meggatt headed Alloa's best chance wide from just four yards after Ryan McCord's corner evaded everybody.

Kirk was the man to break the deadlock in the 64th minute when he kept his composure to finish under Ross Laidlaw at the end of a flowing move.

Bain kept out Greig Spence's six-yard shot moments later and Douglas Hill's deflected long-range effort dropped wide in the dying stages as Alloa held on for all three points.
