Raith Rovers fought back from a mid-week hammering with a comfortable and deserved victory at Forfar.

Goals in either half were enough to give Rovers the full points which never looked in any real doubt.

Rovers had fighting spirit right from the start, although Forfar tested them on a couple of occasions with some good counter attacks.

Brian Fairbairn had to clear off his line from Barry Sellars, and Michele Lombardi hit a spectacular volley from 25 yards which keeper Alistair Brown did well to push past the post.

Paul Lunan had the ball in the net in the 37th minute, but the goal was chalked off for a clear push.

Four minutes from the interval Raith finally made a breakthrough. Fairbairn sent a good cross over on the right and the ball fell for Paul McManus to drill home through a crowd of defenders.

The second half was a poor affair, but Raith set the seal on their win in the 79th minute. Fairbairn was again provider with another great cross which curled in behind the defence and found Neil Jablonski unmarked at the back post, who had all the time in the world to steer his header home from five yards.

Substitute Paul Tosh almost grabbed a consolation for the home side late on, but he rattled the crossbar with his shot from inside the box.
