Ray Farningham's first game in charge of Forfar since talking over from Brian Fairley resulted in a comfortable victory, the Loons travelling to Kirkcaldy and ending Raith Rovers' impressive five-game unbeaten run with goals from Ricky Waddell and Darren Gribben.

Forfar began the game in promising fashion, taking the lead after only five minutes when the unmarked Waddell latched on to a cross from Gribben before volleying the ball beyond Ally Brown in the Raith goal.

It took a full 15 minutes before Raith manufactured an attempt at goal, Brian Fairbairn shooting high over the bar from the edge of the penalty area. At the other end, Forfar frontman Martin Cameron almost increased the visitors' lead with a close-range header which was tipped over the bar by Brown.

Rovers' top scorer Paul McManus then made space himself only to see his shot end up in the side netting.

McManus was withdrawn at half time due to injury and his presence in the Raith forward line was sorely missed as Forfar dominated the second half, recording a second goal after 57 minutes when Gribben collected a pass from David Lowing before placing his shot past Brown.
